Founder's Message

Dear Friends,

After the birth of our son Kyle, my emotions flowed like a roller coaster ride. From his first days in the NICU through his transition into school, there were days of anxiety as diagnoses and medical terms were thrown at us and days filled with uncertainty for Kyle's future.

Going through this time, I felt lost and alone. It was not until I made connections with other parents of children with special needs that I began to heal. Being able to share my thoughts and fears with others who understood what I was going through enabled me to get through each day, accept "what is" and appreciate the important things in life.

With limited family and friends in the local area for support, we are grateful to and deeply thankful for the dedicated therapists and educators who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help our family. We owe a special thank you to Kyle's private therapists, the professionals of the Somerset County Early Intervention Program and the educators and therapists at Woods Road Elementary School in Hillsborough.

Watching Kyle progress and develop into the little boy I see today is joyful and overwhelming. Given all the support that we have received, I am committed to giving back to those who have helped us by providing others with support and a shoulder to lean on. I know there are many families who still do not have access to the resources they need to make these connections. In founding the Care to Share Support Network, I hope that people will see the possibilities that exist for all of us.

Thank you all for keeping me on track and for "Caring to Share".

Sincerely,
